About

Color Tool Bench is a free color tool for designers and artists, with all the tools you need in one place.

Perceptually Uniform

Most color tools come built on top of RGB or HSL, but these formats were designed for computers not human eyes. A 10% lightness change in HSL doesn't look like that, and different hues that HSL sets at "equally light" aren't that way to us.

Instead, Color Tool Bench is built on OKLCH, a perceptually uniform color space built from survey data where the values match what you see. Equal steps in lightness appear equal and harmonies look harmonic.

Concerning traditional artists: the Paint Mixer simulates real pigment mixing using spectral reflectance data of common pigments. In standard RGB-based color mixers, blue mixed with yellow creates gray, not green.
